OOOh Olive Garden

While I do like the Olive Garden, it never ceases to amaze me how long the wait times are to get in. This evening I was pleasantly surprised to be able to walk right in with my family and get a table. I do love the salad and Zuppe Toscana but our family has a rule: "We do not wait more than 30 min for Olive Garden". Why? Because we have found that if we do have to wait longer than that, the service and food quality goes down. And lets be honest, it's Olive Garden. It's not 'fresh' food. Most of the items come prepackaged and its slapped on the grill.
Granted, there are not many resturants we would wait more than 45min. I never wait more than 1hr for a resturant. Ever.
Chain resturants are bare bones quality and service. I like local resturants, Ciro's, Mama's, the Penguin.
The only thing really good about a chain is that you know that the soup, salad and breadsticks will taste exactly the same here as one in Alaska.
And sometimes, thats not a good thing.
Regional food favorites have become endangered species over the years with the influx of mega-food chains.
I'm not saying chains are bad, but we are getting to a point where regions no longer have that 'can only get it here' dish due to the fact that the chains, with their corporate $$ behind them, run the local joints out of business. And God forbid over priced Mortons run Old Stone Steakhouse out of business.
